Some of our guests have been kind enough to leave their comments about staying at Bottle Cottage. Here are a selection:

“We were lucky enough to be among some of the first people to stay in the lovely Bottle Cottage and wow what a treat. So cosy and comfortable a real home from from but with something extra special. Perfect location for visiting the stunning Northumberland coast line and castles, great access to the spectacular cheviot hills and generally ideal for exploring all that the beautiful county of Northumberland has to offer. Really loved our time there and can’t wait to go back.”

~ Amelia Kerr, Northumberland

“Thank you for a wonderful stay. The cottage is thoughtfully decorated and it has been a pleasure to stay here. We’ve loved the wood burning stove in the evenings and have had fun cosying up and playing games after days out exploring. A cosy cottage that has fitted us comfortably. Thank you.”

~ Sawyer & MacDonald family – Aberdeenshire & France

“We have loved exploring Northumberland from ‘Bottle Cottage’. Our highlights have been the beautiful beach at Alnmouth and ‘Scotts’ cafe in Alnmouth is well worth a visit. We all climbed to Drake Stone and the views were spectacular! Cycling around Kielder Water was great and our mountain biking teen loved the specific MTB routes. Coming home to the log burning stove has been great and the SKY TV a bonus. Thank you!!”

“Had a very comfortable break. Cottage is very well equipped. Furniture and beds so comfortable. Also very impressed with TV package – much better than most holiday Cottages – kept the little ones amused! Lovely area and friendly Village, especially Annie at The Star. Sorry to be going.”

“Wonderful cottage with so much to keep us busy from frosty observatory nights seeing other galaxys to walks in Kielder to bike rides to Holy Island and wild hilly walks in the woods.Fabulous to see Chillingham Castle, some great coastal towns. Check excursions at this time of year as many closed – did not spoil the fun! Great to have dishwasher and well equipped kitchen for comfort food after burning off the calories. Both local pubs unique, friendly places -great way to learn local history visiting next door (check opening times).
Love this place for its comfort and the wilderness beyond.
Drake Stone well worth a venture for the peace of the Lake!”

“Loved our country cottage for the week. Well stocked and so peaceful. The landlady in the pub next door told us all the local history of Harbottle and we enjoyed a drink in there. The information in the book is so useful. We have enjoyed visits to Alnwick Castle Gardens, Keilder, Bamburgh, Cragside and Holy Island. The Cottage is well placed to explore Northumberland. Thank you for a lovely stay.”

“We enjoyed a superb stay at this exquisite cottage. The property exudes charm and comfort, with lovely little touches and attention to detail throughout. There is everything you need in the immaculate kitchen, and the comfortable lounge, with log burners in both for added cosiness. The bedrooms are extremely comfortable, and the peaceful surroundings guarantee a good nights sleep. Harbottle is a charming little village and a great base for exploring the area. We will be back!”.”

“For a get away from it all holiday, Bottle Cottage would be hard to beat. Set in the heart of the lovely village of Harbottle you are surrounded by lovely open countryside and friendly local people. The cottage is fully equipped to a very high standard, a spacious family kitchen with woodburner for added character, a relaxing living room with woodburner and sky package (something for both the grown ups and the children) all finished off with a good nights sleep in comfy beds.”.”

“This is a beautiful cottage in an absolutely stunning location, each morning I woke early and took a climb up to the Drake Stone just across the road and the view was just sensational! We were central or many day trips and when home at the cottage we had everything we needed and more. The goodie basket left for us was a wonderful surprise and made us feel really welcome. Beds were comfy and everthing felt clean, homely and the décor tasteful and chic. Hope to come again some time!”

~ Kathryn, Doncaster – September 2019

“Thank you both for the most wonderful stay, it really was everything we needed. We have had all kinds of weather, wet walks to Alwinton, hot sunny hikes up to the Drake Stone (which we touched for its supposed healing powers) and even thunder on our way back from Otterburn. Highly recommend food at the William de Percy which is dog friendly too! The views everywhere outdoors are gorgeous and the locals are so friendly we will struggle to leave Bottle Cottage and its logburners and countryside luxury. Hope to see you again soon.”

“Well…what a week it has been! We had a fantastic first day in Alnmouth, swimming in the sea and enjoying the local café in the sunshine. Shortly after returning to the cottage our dog Lottie became very ill, and we subsequently spent the next 3 days ferrying her to the vets in Rothbury and Alnwick where they treated her and we were able to bring her back to the cottage. I can not recommend them highly enough – their care was first class. Despite this not being an ideal start to the holiday, we had a really lovely time. Lots of great walks especially to the Drake Stone, and a great trip to Craster and Dunstanburgh. Barter Books in Alnwick is an absolute must as well.
We have never stayed in such a lovely, comfortable cottage before and will definitely be back. We loved the logburner in the lounge. The pizzas at the pub next door, (and the cake) are absolutely amazing too.
Many thanks for all the thought that has gone in to making Bottle Cottage such a home from home.”
